What is the Ultraviolet Water Filter?

Water purification technologies have made a huge step over the last decades. A lot of new methods of water purification have been innovated. One of the most effective and the safest water purification systems is ultraviolet water purification.

Notwithstanding their name ultraviolet water filters are not “filters” in the common meaning of this word. Ultraviolet water filters use a lamp that produces ultraviolet light. Ultraviolet is capable of killing bacteria, which is especially important as many water-borne infections are spread nowadays.

In public water sources chlorine is often added for disinfection during the process of water purification. But ultraviolet light is much safer and healthier.

In a container with water a lamp that emits ultraviolet light is installed. Water flows into the container and becomes exposed to the ultraviolet. The ultraviolet then kills the viruses, bacteria and other hazardous microorganisms that may be very dangerous to our health.

Often ultraviolet water filter is used as a stage of a whole water purification system. Usually these systems imply three-stage process so that you can get water of a very high quality. The first stage is a pre-filter that does the most “dirty” work: it removes sediments, rusts, sand, etc. The second part of the task is performed by the carbon water filter that reduces many contaminants.

The final stage guarantees the production of water of a very high quality. The water passes to a container where the ultraviolet light source is installed. Ultraviolet water purification does not involve any chemicals so the water you get has no chemical byproducts.

Besides killing hazardous bacteria, microorganisms and viruses ultraviolet water filter eliminated chlorine, chlorine byproducts, lead and over fifty other chemical pollutants and pesticides that are extremely harmful to our health.

Due to all this qualities the water that passes ultraviolet light water purification systems is one of the healthiest and very safe to drink and use at household utilities.
